2024 QED Reductio ad Absurdum
The 2024 QED Reductio ad Absurdum is a medium-plus bodied, complex wine showing a bit more finesse and elegance than the previous warm vintage iterations of this wine. This wine has a diverse bouquet, a dense mid-palate, and a long finish. The bouquet shows primary notes of blackberry, grilled herbs, white pepper, forest floor supported by nuances of floral tones, tar, and dark chocolate. On the palate there are focused notes of ripe blackberry, red plum, raspberry, forest floor, espresso, dark chocolate, vanilla, minerals, and earth. Overtones of white pepper, roasted spices, and grilled herbs can also be found. A beautiful, classic wine made in the signature Rasa style: gorgeous mouthfeel, exquisite balance, refined tannins, and a long, resonant finish. The wine should reach maturity in 6-8 years and will hold for approximately 15+ years.
100% Syrah, Eclectic Vineyard, Yakima Valley
The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration average of 113 hours and a post-fermentation maceration average of 128 hours. 100% Native fermentation. 50% whole clusters were used to give added structure. The wine was punched down by hand 3 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The oak profile is 20% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 80% neutral French oak. The wine had an elevage of 22 months in oak and was racked three times but not fined. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees. The alcohol is 14.5%, pH is 3.83, and the titratable acidity is 5.8 g/L. 65 Cases produced.
2024 Rasa Vineyards ‘QED Reductio Ad Absurdum’ Syrah- The unbelievably good 2024 QED ‘Reductio Ad Absurdum’ is all Syrah coming from the Eclectic Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. This location was planted between 2012 and 2014, sits primarily on southern facing slopes at an elevation between 870-930 feet. It has marvelous aromatics of red florals with venison, white pepper dusted charcuterie and shades of green olive tapenade. The palate is beautfully-textured with terrific weight and underlying finesse. For a vineyard that I am somewhat unfamiliar with, this wine delivers a total knockout punch in terms of flavor and aromatic range. A stunning wine to consume now, watch this evolve over the next ten plus years. Drink 2026-2036- 96 Owen Bargreen
