Occam's Razor Pinot Gris

2022 Occam's Razor Pinot Gris

Winemaker Notes

The 2022 Occam’s Razor Pinot Gris has beautiful aromatics of apricot, peach, and marzipan. On the palate there are precise notes of apricot, melon, tangerine peel, and honeycomb with hints of marzipan. The wine has a fuller bodied with a concentrated palate, crisp acidity, and mineral expression. The lees aging adds a lovely textural component while the skin contact adds just the right level of phenolic grip. The vibrant finish echoes with notes of apricot, melon, and minerals. This is a wine that can be enjoyed now or over the next 2-4 years.

Technical Details

The clusters were destemmed and lightly crushed and the juice remained on the skins for a few hours. The wine was barrel fermented partially in neutral oak barrels and stainless-steel barrels. No malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged on the lees for 10 months with weekly batonnage. The wine was not racked until bottling and no fining agents were employed. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees.

Reviews

92 Points - Slightly off-dry on the finish the 2022 Occam’s Razor Pinot Gris gifts notes of candied apple, fresh pineapple, toasted almonds, citrus oil. Fresh and vibrant, the acidity cuts through any sweetness and delivers a lovely fruit-forward finish. Pair with spicy Asian food and be richly rewarded. Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

92 Points - A very fresh and lively wine, the 2022 Rasa Vineyards ‘Occam’s Razor’ Pinot Gris was given extended skin contact and needs some warming up. The palate displays loads of mouth-watering acidity with kiwi, sweetened gooseberry and green melon flavors alongside copious minerals and salty undertones. This is seriously good. Drink 2023-2029.
