Winemaker’s Notes

The 2022 Human[e] is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit coming from some of the best vineyards in WA state: Ciel du Cheval, DuBrul, Firethorn, Summit View, and Weinbau. The wine has a deep purple color with a complex bouquet of blackberry, cassis, black cherry, minerals, and dark chocolate. The palate is equally captivating with a fullbodied, expansive mouthfeel. The finish is beautifully precise and long. Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 8-10 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 15+ years.

Technical Details

The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration of 155 hours and a post-fermentation maceration of 118 hours. The wine was punched down by hand 2 times each day during fermentation. 100% native fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The wine had an elevage of 21 months in French Oak. The oak profile is 50% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers). The wine achieved its sparkly brilliance from 3 judicious rackings, no fining agents were employed. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees.
