Creative Impulse

2023 Creative Impulse

Release Date - September 10, 2026

Winemaker Notes

The blend for the 2023 Creative Impulse is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, all from DuBrul Vineyard. A nearly perfect wine, very dense and complex on the palate with a deep ruby-purple color. The complex, multilayered bouquet showcases cassis, blackberry, black plum, gravel, dark chocolate, thyme, wild sage, allspice, and nutmeg. Luscious, hedonistic fruit qualities on the palate are held in check with lively acidity and refined silky tannins. The palate has well delineated notes of cassis, blackberry, huckleberry, smoldering incense, aged cigar tobacco, espresso, and dark chocolate. Beautifully balanced showing exceptional elegance and finesse combined with hedonistic fruit. Finishes very long with notes of cassis, pencil lead, smoldering incense, and forest floor. Properly cellared, this wine will gracefully evolve for 20+ years and should reach a lovely phase of maturity in 8-10 years.

Technical Details

The wine had a pre-fermentation maceration average of 121 hours and a post-fermentation maceration average of 118 hours. Native fermentation was used on all the lots. The wine was punched down by hand 2 times each day during macerations and fermentation. All individual wine components, including free run and press fractions, were kept separate until final blending. The oak profile is 60% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 40% neutral French oak. The wine had an elevage of 30 months in oak and was racked three times but not fined. The wine was very lightly filtered to capture any remaining lees. The alcohol is 14.8%, pH is 3.81, and the titratable acidity is 6.0g/L. 63 Cases produced

2023 Rasa Vineyards ‘Creative Impulse’ Red Wine-Another show-stopping vintage of this wine, and sourced from the famed DuBrul Vineyard, the 2023 ‘Creative Impulse’ combines 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder Merlot. It is dense, heady and viscous wine — yet comes off quite weightless on the mid-palate. A seamless, and very gratifying melange of red and dark fruits alongside Arabica bean and milk chocolate pie, with wafts of sagebrush, this beauty is already drinking marvelously now. Give it an hour in the decanter if savoring in its intense youth. Drink 2026-2046- 99
